Here is a quick way to remove the crowds using Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended
- Set up your tripod, turn off the auto focus and stabilization features on your camera, and take multiple photographs of the desired scene. It is best to take 15-20 photos over a short period of time. The goal is to capture all stationary object in the scene over the course of your photo set. As people move around, different stationary elements of the scene will appear.
- When you get home, open all your images in Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended. From the top menu, select File > Scripts > Statistics. In the "Choose Stacks Mode" dialogue, select "Median."
- After you apply the Script, Photoshop will stitch all stationary aspects of your photoset into one photo; the moving crowds are filtered out. You might need to edit out remaining artifacts and noise, and then your tourist free image is good to go!
